I had another great day exploring London for my fmp. I started off near London Bridge visiting Octavia Hill's Redcross gardens. She opened the gardens when Southwark was grim and industrial to allow the working people to experience some nature in the city. There are 6 model cottages in the gardens which were built as part of a housing scheme that aimed to provide affordable, nice housing for the working class. Pretty cool!
From London Bridge I walked to Bank to see St. Dunstan's in the East. This is a Church that was built in the 1600s but burned down in the great fire. It was then rebuilt by Christopher Wren but was bombed in WWII. It is now just a shell of the church that has been taken over by greenery and now serves as a secluded garden. My last stop was in an NCP car park in Finsbury square where there is a disused Victorian drinking fountain. It made for a pretty weird juxtaposition.
